Why extend a front

More coverage. Same front.

Extending an existing draper or windrower front is often the fastest and most cost-effective way to improve harvest capacity — without replacing the whole machine.

Improve harvest efficiency

A wider cut means more coverage per pass — critical when harvest windows are tight. For contractors chasing the season across multiple properties, width is direct income.

Match a wider header

Upgrading your header but keeping the existing front? An extension brings the front's width into line with the machine's new capacity, protecting the investment already made in the front.

Right for your paddocks

Flatter country, consistent crops, and long paddock runs all suit a wider pass. Growers with these conditions working a narrower-than-necessary front are leaving harvest efficiency on the table.

The process

Engineered and fabricated in-house

Every extension is assessed, designed to spec, built in our Swan Hill workshop, and tested at the new width before it leaves. Nothing is bolted on and hoped for.

  1. Assessment

We inspect the existing front — its structure, original spec, and current condition. We won't extend a front that won't hold up safely at the new width. If there are underlying issues, we identify them first.

  2. Engineering

The extension is engineered to match the original manufacturer's geometry and structural tolerances — not approximated. Same design principles, same load paths, designed for the additional span.

  3. Fabrication

Built in our workshop from the right materials. Everything is fabricated and fitted in-house — not outsourced. We control the quality at every stage.

  4. Fit and test

The extension is fitted to your front and checked at the new width before it leaves us. It goes back to you ready to work — not to your farm to be sorted out.

What contractors say

"You'd never pick where they'd cut it — it looks like a brand new MacDon front. We went from a 40ft to a 42ft front, it runs beautifully and our clients are over the moon."
