We work it the way John does — snap the build plate first, then walk to the left end and sight straight down the frame and the cutter bar, do the same from the right end, and finish with one shot of the whole front, front-on. Left and right are as you stand out front, facing the machine — on the machine is fine, no need to pull it off. A short video is welcome too — add it to whichever slot fits.

The six essentials

1. The build plate Snap it first — the serial / compliance plate tells us the exact model.

2. Frame — from the left end Stand at the left end and sight down the frame. A bend shows as a kink in the line.

3. Frame — from the right end Same again from the right end — it catches bends the near end hides.

4. Cutter bar — from the left end Sight straight down the cutter bar from the left end.

5. Cutter bar — from the right end And down the bar from the right end.

6. The whole front Stand back, straight out front, and get the full width end to end.

Top auger & panels Any bent flat-steel panels up top.

The reel Costly to fix — worth a shot if it copped anything.

Worth getting The adapter, from behind The plate that joins the front to the harvester.

Anything else

Anything else Any other angle that helps — reel fingers up close, underside of the bar, whatever stands out.
